Janet is a relatively new painting enthusiast. Although she has always
been a creative person with a love for working with colours in its
myriad forms. And she has tried to fit this in whenever possible with
a busy family and work life. Now that she is no longer working she
can totally indulge.
What motivates Janet are the moments in life, nature, travels or whatever touches the soul. To try and capture the feelings of those moments in a meaningful way.
Janet originally came from Winnipeg with an Environmental and
Urban Studies degree. Upon the arrival of her 2 daughters she
switched to part time work as a Research Assistant at the Calgary
Public Library and has been there throughout her working life.
The spark for painting was lit while taking Decorative Art classes at a
local shop which led to a course at the University of Calgary. It was
totally captivating and further led her into many different and
enlightening workshops of which we are so fortunate to have
available. With that in mind she would love to acknowledge her
patient and kind teachers Marla Blackwell, Sherry Telle, Connie
Geerts for their insights and for helping so much with the journey.
And of course the wonderful art resources at the Calgary Public
Library.
