Alexander was born in Calgary, Alberta of Ukrainian parentage. He was raised in the Badlands of Drumheller, Alberta where as a boy, he developed a love of nature and the outdoors that is reflected in both his oil and watercolour paintings and his ink and watercolour woodcuts.
After graduating from the 4 year program at the Alberta College of Art and Design (now the Alberta University of the Arts), he worked as Art Director for Lawson Graphics. In 1978 he started his own graphic arts company Alexander Graphics.
Since taking early retirement, Alexander has devoted himself to fine art. His desire is to bring the beauty he has experienced in nature to other people’s lives.
