After retiring as a chemical engineer in the United States and returning to Calgary, Wayne took up his lifelong interest in art and started painting in acrylics as a member of the Parkdale Art Club and Calgary Community Painters Society. This sparked additional interest, and Wayne returned to the University of Calgary and enrolled in a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, which he is currently in the process of completing. This rigorous degree program has expanded his scope in drawing, printmaking, sculpture, pastel, gouache, and art history, in addition to oil and acrylic painting. During this time, Wayne was also commissioned to illustrate university textbooks in pen and ink. Overall, it has been a rich experience and Wayne looks forward to continuing his association with the Calgary Community Painters Society.
