Les Mader was born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan in 1951. Having roots in the prairies of rural Saskatchewan he was born and raised in the beautiful Qu’Appelle Valley and loves painting all aspects of nature.
He paints in oil and acrylic and specializes in painting all forms of nature and wildlife. Some of his work depicts rare and unusual wildlife interactions and settings. E.G. One of his works is of a a blue heron catching a salamander and a hawk standing off with a magpie.
All of his work is created form his own photographs. He photographs to paint and will go to great lengths to obtain the right image for his paintings.
He does it for the love of nature and his desire to share his paintings with others. Through his work he hopes to encourage and educate others in the protection of our fragile planet.
Established: L.E.S. short for Les’ Eastbow Studio. His work can be seen on facebook under this name.
Became a member of the Calgary Commercial Painter’s Society in 2019.
