Jean Tamlin, born and educated in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, has liven in Calgary since 1981, except for a two year sojourn in Aberdeen, Scotland. She also lived in Swakopmund, Namibia and travelled extensively to many exotic and interesting parts of the world, seeing natural wonders and magnificent scenery around the globe.
In Jean’s art, she strives to share with others her love and respect for animals and nature, be it watercolours or acrylic and whether the styles vary from realism to abstraction. Abstract work frees jer mind and soul – “its like going on a journey with no map and no destination; just a cauldron of swirling colours and textures”.
Jean’s artwork can be found in private collections in Canada, USA, UK, South Africa and Namibia.
Jean’s other passions have been representing Alberta at the Senior National Games in tennis, playing golf and squash, skiing and in her youth, provincial field hockey and table tennis.
