John Gyorgy
The key to capturing form is to paint light, not objects. It is not really the subject matter that one concentrates on, but more the play of light on the surface that is front of you. Once you paint light and shadow, the forms emerge by themselves.
A devoted realist, John works directly from his own photos. He works in the mediums of pastel, watercolour and oil.
John studied Art at University as a minor emphasis in both his undergraduate and graduate studies. He studied privately with Professor Michael Gergely of the University of Budapest Art School while in his undergraduate years. John put aside his interest in Art for his educational career. Although he still had a full-time administrative position, he began painting again in 1986. Since then, he has taken many workshops and has been influenced by Jon Williams.
John’s works can be found in private collections in Canada, United States, China, England, Hungary and Australia.
