Barbara Ellis
I began to study art under the guiding hand of my mother, Maria Becske, an artist in her own right. I acquired my formal education through evening classes, Saturday morning seminars, the Red Deer College of Art and tutoring from artist, Dick van den Hoogan, Betty Macdonald and Terry Holben.
I was born in Hungary and grew up in Switzerland and Australia. I moved to southern Alberta in 1956 where I have lived ever since. I have always enjoyed the great outdoors and was lucky to have traveled and grown up in some of the most beautiful places in the world. I love to paint nature and I feel very fortunate to live in Alberta where there is such a variety of landscape subjects.
